Violinist Haig Hovsepian Launches Chamber Concert Series
At the young age of 26, violinist Haig Hovsepian has a lot of experience under his belt. He has won numerous awards and performed in many hallowed sites, including Symphony Hall and the Massachusetts State House.
This fall he is launching the Massachusetts Chamber Music Artists (MCMA), a curated concert series.

On Friday, April 11, Belmont-based violinist Haig Hovsepian and his mother, pianist Ani Hovsepian (of ACH Music Studio in Belmont), presented a concert dedicated to the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. Titled “Echoes of Armenia” it featured an all-Armenian program encompassing a broad range of music from ancient liturgical chants, to music by classics and 20th century composers.

Haig Hovsepian Laureate at ‘Renaissance’ VIII International Contest-Festival in Gyumri
In April, Massachusetts-based violinist Haig Hovsepian became a Laureate II Degree by winning 2nd place in the string instruments/violin category at the “Renaissance” VIII International Contest-Festival in Gyumri, Armenia. This year there were 3,000 participants from 36 countries with around 200 violinists. This competition/festival, which has been drawing international attention, is the only competition of its kind in the Republic of Armenia. There were contestants who participated from as far away as China.

Hovsepian to Perform Khachaturian Concerto with Concord Orchestra
The winter Concord Orchestra concert, “The Call of History,” features the winner of the Ehlers Young Artist Competition and a performance of Joyce Mekeel’s “Toward the Source” with the Spectrum Singers. Belmont resident Haig Hovsepian, 17, was recently named the winner of the Concord Orchestra Ehlers Young Artist Competition, and will perform Khachaturian’s “Violin Concerto in D Minor” in the orchestra’s winter concerts on Fri., Jan. 29 and Sat., Jan. 30.

Haig Aram Hovsepian, 16 years old, is a sophomore at Belmont High School. He started playing violin at the age of 4, studying privately with Narine Dolukhanian, Anna Korsunsky, and Mark Lakirovich.

Young Violinist Haig Hovsepian Performs with Waltham Philharmonic
Each fall, the Waltham Philharmonic Orchestra (WPO) hosts auditions as part of our youth concerto competition, in which students up to high school age play a solo they propose to perform with the orchestra at our Spring concert. This past season, violinist Haig Hovsepian from Belmont gave an excellent rendition of the Khachaturian concerto solo part to win the competition and play with the WPO.

Haig Hovsepian Brings (Violin) Trills and Chills with Khachaturian Violin Concerto at BHS
Belmont High School parents who are interested in music are lucky; the school has a top-notch music program. Several times a year, the various vocal and musical groups perform. Parents are so dedicated that even during budget cuts, they raise funds to make sure that the excellence of the music and fine arts programs, led by Arto Assadourian, continues.
With all this preparation, they still did not expect the tornado that was sophomore Haig Hovsepian, on March 4, during the school’s annual Spring Chorus and Orchestra Concert. -
Haig Hosepian Wins Concord Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition
Each year, the Concord Orchestra features a young performer selected by the annual young artist competition. The competition is open to musicians of high school age or younger who live in eastern Massachusetts. The winner is chosen by a panel of orchestra members and the music director. The winner also receives a cash prize from the Ehlers Memorial Scholarship Fund.
This year’s winner is 17-year-old Haig Hovsepian, of Belmont. Hovsepian will perform Khachaturian’s Violin Concerto in D minor in the orchestra’s winter concert at 8 p.m. January 29 and 30 at the Performing Arts Center at 51 Walden St., Concord.

Hovsepians to Perform in North Andover
The mother-and-son team of Ani and Haig Hovsepian will perform at the 117th anniversary celebration of the Lowell ARF Committee Saturday, December 8, at 6 p.m. with a combined program at St. Gregory Armenian Church, 158 Main St.
The Hovsepians are both known for their musical virtuoso throughout the Greater Boston community. This will mark their first public appearance in North Andover where they have strong family ties.
