Haig Hovsepian - violinist

“The combination of his youth and his artistry was something that made an indelible mark on all present.”
-Alin Gregorian, editor, The Armenian Mirror-Spectator

Armenian-American violinist Haig Hovsepian, praised as “one of the most gifted musicians of his generation” (violinist, Ilya Kaler), is recognized for his expressive versatility and cross-cultural artistry as a soloist, chamber musician, and orchestral leader. He began violin studies at age four and later trained on the Sh’vi (Armenian fipple flute) and saxophone, reflecting a musical foundation shaped by classical training, Armenian heritage, and studies in jazz.

Hovsepian has performed across the United States, Canada, Norway, Iceland, and Armenia, appearing at major venues including Carnegie Hall, Boston’s Symphony Hall, the Koussevitzky Music Shed, Jordan Hall, Severance Hall, Merkin Hall, and Alice Tully Hall. His concerto engagements include performances with the Boston Pops under Keith Lockhart, as well as several regional orchestras.

A Max Reger Ambassador Prize winner, he earned Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music, studying with Ilya Kaler. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of Massachusetts Chamber Music Artists (MCMA) and is also an active educator.
